Buy a Girlfriend? Sega “Emma”(EMA) Robot Girlfriend- a MUST read for everyone!
74New age for 2008!
The Year is 2008 and it's the age of technology development. Our Good friends, the maker of the Sega DreamCast has just reversed its name to Cast Dream from Sega. That's right, from video game to interactive robots Sega has done it again! I remember back when I had a Sega gneisses. I never would have guessed the company would come up with robots. Now, they use that programming ability to help humans in real life, not just on a tv screen! Will this be a great step in relationships for humans or not? Only time will help us find out and i'm sure the end answer will be an interesting one!
If you haven’t Guessed it from the Picture, You can Buy yourself a Girlfriend!
Lonely grown man? Why not buy yourself a box size little cutie? She is big-busted, petite, very friendly, and she runs on batteries. Sega unraveled its new robot “Emma”(EMA). Japan’s first working “Sexy Robot”. EMA stands for Eternal Maiden Actualization. Emma can do many things including:
-Kisses on Demand
-Hand out Business Cards
-Sing
-Dance
Emma was produced by a Japanese firm. Emma is 38 cm (15 inches) tall programmed to be a robotic girlfriend that will kiss on command, with a target of lonely adult men. Emma uses infrared sensors and is batter powered. Emma puckers up for nearby human heads that she detects and enters what designers call its “Love Mode”.
Personally, what do I think Emma will do for people?
I am kinda shaky on what will the result of Emma will be on grown men. It might help them emotional and mentally. I am just afraid it might have some side effects. Could Emma turn up the hormones on grown men without girls and who might not have a stable mind and lead to more abuses of women? Nothing can be sure, and I’m sure this is a concern to deal with when the time comes. So far it looks like a great product!
When Can I get Emma and how much will it be?
Emma will start its sale campaign in September 2008 for around $175 USD. A cheap robot Sega plans on selling 10,000 in its first year if not more. I will keep Updates on when it is open for sale and any new information Sega Releases about it. When will it come to the US? Unknown at this point.
Sadly, this product has been discontinued from Sega. No EMA =(
"Strong, tough and battle-ready are some of the words often associated with robots, but we wanted to break that stereotype and provide a robot that's sweet and interactive," said Minako Sakanoue, a spokeswoman for the maker, Sega Toys.
"She's very lovable and though she's not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend."
What would a girl think? (Laughs)
With a new age of robots what would happen if your wife or girlfriend came home to Emma? Could having a robot like this qualify to cheating? (I am laughing at the though of this) I know to some girls it could get into there head that “Why does he need a robot, aren’t I good enough?” And this might lead to more problems. Because this robot isn’t even close to doing what a real girl would I would think it wouldn’t be an issue, but what happens when they get more advanced, and more life sized? When that happens it might give a new meaning to Cybering, when the internet is really interacting with you!
Japan's Humanoid Hottie Emma (EMA)
Japan is home to almost half the world's 800,000 industrial robots, envisions a $10-billion market for artificial intelligence in a decade. Will Emma improve its artificial intelligence innovations? We can only see as the time comes.

Hey Thranax!
You are my first Fan! I liked this hub about Emma- really great! I see what you mean about page alignment and all that. I intend on getting started adding to my hub so that there are some "links" or whatever, I definately want to make money. I am new to all of this though so it will take time. I appreciate your comment though! Give me more! And any advice is welcome, I sure need it at this stage. This hub about Emma was really great though- and although some people may not approve of a "robot girlfriend", I think it is mostly in fun, and the real thing to appreciate is the technology. Remember Furby? Now if I could just have a holographic interactive girlfriend......-Derrik
Anybody who has been divorced a thousand times may want this hot item! LOL!
Robotic girlfriend? Seriously??? All I can say is the manufacturers better be non-sexist and make one for women too! A sword-weilding elven warrior would be nice. LOL Just kidding. You could view this in two ways, though. One, as yet another sign of the breakdown in true human communication and intimacy as technology pervades society. But, on another level, these robots could serve the same purpose as companion pets and help people who are depressed, disabled, etc., not feel so alone. Still, I would rather see a human spend his/her time interacting with another living thing -- be it a dog, a cat, or plant life -- then a robot. Thanks for the interesting post.
Fun hub, Thranax. Robot lovers are inevitable. As soon as they get more life-size, and a lot more, uh, "user-friendly" I'll probably get one, myself.
I see no reason not to. If you're single, can't find that special someone, what's the harm? How many people have pets for just this same reason. Companionship. This is just another "companion," and if they can communicate and be lovers, too. Woo-hoo!
kisses on demand? ok.... if u need that, but if nothing else, i can imagine some things u may be able to make a negotiation and ask a real girlfriend to do! im just saying....
I need a robot girlfriend i am very lonely man i need sega emma
Hi Thranax, just thought this was pretty funny.
Unbelievable! What ever will they think of next? This is just one step up from a furbie, but I guess further down the line we'll be looking at a female version of C-3PO!
haha cute for what its worth but kind of pricey in my opinion. $175 is not worth it!
Hey Thranax, great hub. LOL, All I can say is that if they make a male version (kisses on demand, sings, and dances) my cat and dog may be looking for a new home.(Just kidding, kind of) :-)
Can it get a beer? :)
That just gave me the creeps. And as somebody above said, its going to give the porn industry a whole new dimension and I am afraid a whole new boost too. With their advancement, soon they we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a robot and a real girl. More impotents we will have since these doll-machines will start coming out in huge numbers and lower costs ... driving down the price you get to pay for a one night-stand or more. Plus, unlike humans , they will never tire which means that you can go for 10 hours straight if you like; putting an upward thrust to x addiction too. I can go on and on with this ... I think I just got another topic for my hub!
Thanks for sharing the info :).
Robots will always be something for the future, but when it comes to something like this from the Japanese, I still prefer their figures and dolls. The latter have captivated me but compared to Emma, they're really way too expensive for me to spend my welfare benefits on. Quite a funny little hub you have here, thranax! :)

This is a very sad trend. Once they manage to improve the animatronics, these high tech versions of blow up dolls will add yet another dimension to the porn industry. Thanks for the hub.
