Google Homepage Images - User Defined New Backgrounds

New to Google, the search engine most of the world uses, introduces a new fun way to stylize your computer experience. If someone can put a wallpaper on there desktop, add a background to internet programs like Speed Dial, Myspace, and FoxTab - and even change the buttons their browser can appear as, whats left to do? Well we all know google never gives up on satisfying users and thus introduced the logged in custom google homepage background image!

I am skeptical that there are really any serious competition ties to this feature, I mean hell its just a background. But the more one looks it seems like this is a step towards counteracting Bing who changes to a lovely background every day using a high resolution image. It might be for competition reasons but I believe this addition is to encourage user sign in while browsing the internet (google records your searches and tailors to your most viewed content).

It might also be adding a feature to the current users of Picasa - saving all the web photos you upload to use as your background.

The main reason about all I believe they did this is to give a personal touch to there classic alternative.

Many users of Google Homepage who sign in are currently under "iGoogle". The iGoogle feature is the one with a custom theme and a bunch of boxes. Some of the boxes are for G-Mail, date and time, new youtube videos etc. To get back to this option click "Classic Home" to only have the search bar and editable background.

All images should be in Landscape (Wider then Tall).

Well...never-mind that saying. If your browser is fully open or not, the image you put there size doesnt matter. Google automatically sizes the image to the size of your browser, so you don't need it in full screen to enjoy your image. (Please note size of browser does affect where the google logo and box are located overlaying your image.) So next time you go to google.com and get ready to look up George Foreman grills or some cool anime backgrounds, you will have your own unique picture to greet you everytime.
